Jewelry Techniques Module 1
Fundamentals of Jewelry Design & Creation
Course Description
Module 1 is the introductory module for jewelry making, where students become familiar with the tools and how to use them optimally. In the first 6 hours of training, students will complete 3 simple exercises to apply the initial techniques such as sawing, filing, sanding, and finishing. After mastering these exercises, students will be introduced to soldering techniques with practice on random elements. In the following 8 hours of training, the challenge is to create geometric and organic shapes and make them three-dimensional using embossing tools and bending techniques. These pieces will be soldered into a composition chosen by the student and transformed into a piece of jewelry, such as a pendant, earring, or ring. In the final 3 hours of training, students will learn to make tubing (canevão) in copper or silver, which will be used for stone setting in the next module.
